Blood can tell a lot about a person because it is essentially a carrier of life and destiny. Did you know there was even a blood type diet that was once all the rage? Some fat people are still interested in this and study the list of allowed products.
It should be said right away that this technique has been repeatedly criticized by doctors and has no scientific basis. But be forewarned, so let's try to learn everything about this diet.
History of the diet
At one time, people believed that everyone had the same blood. Do you remember the tale of Mowgli? "You and I are of the same blood - you and I! "But soon after trying to share their blood with the sick and wounded, a theory emerged that the blood is actually different.
Many scientific studies and experiments were conducted on animals and humans, but only in 1900, three blood groups were discovered by Karl Landsteiner, and a little later, the fourth was discovered by his students.
Currently, the world has adopted an alphanumeric classification:
- He or I - first;
- A (II) - second;
- B (III) – the third;
- AB (IV) – fourth.
The most common blood groups in the world are the first and second blood groups. Its carriers make up 80% of all humanity. The third is less common, 15% have it, and the fourth is considered the rarest and is represented by only 5%.
American naturopathic doctor Peter D'Adamo proposed at the end of the twentieth century that if some human diseases are directly related to genetic characteristics and often depend on blood type, then blood type nutrition is also possible. He was interested in the preferences of each of his patients for certain foods and designed the right diet for each group. All products were divided into useful, undesirable and neutral.
D'Adamo has written several books on diet. They were a huge success among American readers and became bestsellers. Then his concept "4 blood groups - 4 roads to health" spread all over the world, and everyone who wanted to lose weight rushed to try the new diet.
What is it?
Basic principles and rules
According to blood groups, nutrition comes down to the following.
- In each period of human evolution, there was a certain diet, when it changed, the blood mutated and a new group appeared. And therefore, there is a basic set of products for each group.
- To keep your body in great shape, you need to eat the way your ancestors ate with a certain blood type. Thanks to the biochemical connection between blood and food, the "right" food is better absorbed, digested faster, increases metabolism and strengthens the immune system.
- If you eliminate the "wrong" foods from your diet, you can improve the functioning of the body, improve health and prolong life.
An example of moving to another place of residence or even tourism is when the local unusual cuisine is not accepted by the body and health problems begin.
If a resident of the Far North, who has been fed fatty protein foods all his life, decides to move to Europe with its carbohydrate-rich cuisine, then the risk of diabetes and digestive problems is high.
You don't even have to go far for examples, look around. Some people hate milk, others prefer plant foods, and others will simply starve if they don't eat a large piece of meat. Maybe this is not without reason?
Common dining table for all groups
Dr. who divides foods according to blood group by emphasizing the prohibition, permitted and neutral. Let's take a look at D'Adamo's research.

- neutral - "0".

Diet according to the 1st blood group
It is the most common first positive blood group in the world. It is most common among Eastern Slavs and American Indians.
People with the first blood group are universal donors, which means that this blood group is suitable for absolutely everyone. By the way, mosquitoes prefer the first blood group more than all others.
Features of feeding behavior (hunter, carnivore)
Absolutely all ancient people living in the primitive community system had the first blood type, all the rest happened as a result of mutation.
Now remember the history of the Ancient World, archaeological excavations and the conclusions of scientists - 40 thousand years ago, primitive people lived by hunting and gathering. Their main diet consists of meat, meat and more meat, followed by roots, grasses and a few edible fruits and berries that grow wild in the forests.
Thus, the owners of the first group carry the genes of the oldest hunters, and at the gene level, their bodies require as much protein as possible. The diet, unfortunately, is the poorest. If you decide on such a diet, then you will have to give up many favorite foods.
The diet for the first blood type consists of meat, fish and vegetables. It is better not to take milk and its derivatives at all.

Diet according to the 2nd blood group
There is no less common group. It is literally a few hundred years younger than the first one, and evolved as a result of mutation after ancient hunter-gatherers decided to settle down and engage in agricultural activities.
People with that blood type produce more of the hormone cortisol, which helps them cope with stress. In addition, they are, unfortunately, prone to alcoholism.
Characteristics of eating behavior (farmer)
25, 000 years ago, meat-eating hunter-gatherers learned to cultivate the land and receive its gifts. This is the beginning of the development of the agricultural lifestyle. People began to build settlements, plant fields, plant grains and vegetables.
Protein foods were scarce, animals moved away from people, and meat became difficult to obtain.
Sometimes the second blood group is called "vegetarian". Most of its speakers live in Europe.
The diet of people with the second blood type should include vegetarian food, fish, poultry and dairy products. But it is recommended to give up coffee, beans and meat.

Diet according to the 3rd blood group
The third group is quite rare and is more characteristic of Asian peoples - they were famous for their huge cattle herds - horses, cows, goats and sheep in the old days. Of course, they had to travel from one place to another to feed the animals.
Characteristics of eating behavior (migratory)
As soon as milk and dairy products began to be actively included in the diet, and this happened about 10, 000 years ago, the blood mutated again.
Most people with the third blood group live in Asia - they are hereditary nomads.
People of this type are the luckiest - they have practically no limits, they are omnivores. It is necessary to exclude semi-finished products, smoked meats, alcohol.

The fourth group was formed by the mixing of the second and third groups after people began to live in large settlements and cities.
People with blood type IV are more prone to senile dementia and Alzheimer's disease. But they are also universal donors of plasma, which is very valuable in the treatment of burns.
Features of eating behavior (conundrum)
This blood is the youngest, not more than two thousand years old. Its composition is truly unique and resistant to autoimmune and allergic diseases.
These people have a mixed diet type, dietary restrictions are quite low. But it is recommended that they eat as much natural bio-food as possible.

Does the Rh factor affect nutrition?
We know from school that there are only four blood groups, and their number doubles when the Rh factor is taken into account. It was first discovered after research on rhesus monkeys, hence its name. The Rh factor can be positive and is designated as (Rh+) or negative (Rh-). It indicates the presence or absence of an antigen (protein) on the surface of red blood cells (erythrocytes).
But in fact, the division of blood into only four groups is arbitrary - if we take into account all the characteristics of blood, their number will be more. D'Adamo ignores this fact.
In D'Adamo's famous book, there is no mention of the effect of the Rh factor. Since more than 80% of the world's population has a positive Rh factor, the diet is specially designed for these people.
Diet contraindications
Without prior consultation with your doctor, people with the following diseases should not follow a diet on their own:
- diabetes;
- chronic digestive problems;
- hematopoietic disorder;
- ARVI.
In addition, if any illness has worsened, it is not recommended to follow any diet until you feel better.
Do not experiment on yourself during pregnancy or breastfeeding, remember that you are responsible not only for your life, but also for your baby.
Weight loss reviews
- "This is an ideal diet for people who do not have any health problems. But if you are overweight, there are all kinds of diseases a priori, so the diet stops working. It is convenient, of course, there is a wide selection of products, but this method did not suit me - the doctor allowed on the tableprohibited eating all products. It turned out that the schedule was almost 90% against the doctor's recommendations. "
- "I don't have a medical education, but I clearly see the big flaws - the diet is completely unscientific. One of them is that people in the second group must rely on vegetarian food, and the third and fourth are omnivores, but they are precisely the descendants of the second. In general, tryI won't either. "
- "I lost 10 kg in a few months! The blood type diet is very nice, it's easy to lose weight. I think you can stay on this diet for life. I recommend this wonderful diet to everyone who wants to lose weight! "
- "The blood group diet is complete nonsense. Do not torture yourself with these healthy, harmful and neutral products. Eat everything in moderation, without fanaticism. If you want something sweet, do not eat whole chocolate, eat 1-2 candies, if you want bread, cut a piece and eat it. but don't go hungry. "
- "At work, I showed approved products for the second blood group - the whole team laughed, wiped their tears and ate the meat cutlet (yes, yes, half of our team is a "farmer"). To be honest, I have never seen a more stupid and completely unacceptable diet! "
Opinions and criticism of doctors
The blood test diet is not approved by doctors. After all, each person is so individual that it is necessary to conduct a complex study and obtain information about more than sixty specific genes responsible for endocrine and enzymatic activity, and only then create a diet. And in this case, blood group is a very generalizing factor and cannot be responsible for the correctness of a certain person's menu.
Thus, doctors believe that D'Adamo's theory has no scientific basis, is little studied, but does not cause any particular harm. And in some cases, it even helps to stimulate the body and activate a faster metabolism.
In addition, D'Adamo included truly harmful products in the list of prohibited foods for all blood groups - sausage and smoked meat, store sauces, ice cream, carbonated drinks, alcohol and others.
Well, do not forget about the placebo effect - a person believes and loses weight.
The pros and cons of the diet
Advantages:
- a large list of permitted products;
- easy to carry;
- the ability to create a varied and balanced menu;
- you can stick to it for a long time.
Defects:
- there is no clear plan on how, when and in what quantities to consume certain products;
- the diet has no scientific basis, all results are very general;
- Another profitable business for nutritionists and, of course, the creator himself.
The result
Experience shows that some people were able to really lose weight on this diet. But they note that the results are not permanent - the weight always comes back. So you will have to eat right almost all your life.
